Does it do any good to keep pointing out the obvious, namely, that liberal-left scum have taken over the country and are destroying it? We can't seem to do anything about it. Who will stop the rot? Not establishment Republicans who go along to get along.
Trump? Are you serious? There was a point at which I thought Trump might be the man, despite all his glaring defects. But no longer. He had a shot at the presidency. But he's blown it: his judgment is so bad, or his ego is so huge, that he cannot control his tongue. He possesses an excess of groundless self-confidence, just like Obama. (And like Obama, he is a liar and a bullshitter.) Trump thinks he can just 'wing it' without doing any real work or learning anything about the issues. Thus he thinks he can enter the snake pit with a slimy leftist like Chris Matthews and escape unharmed without having done any real preparation.
As for the existence of leftist rot, here (HT: Bill Keezer) is a taste of The Diplomad:
The leftist rot that we saw begin in earnest in the 1960s has successfully corroded most basic institutions and even the language of debate. The universities, the mass media, Hollywood, government bureaucracies, and political debate are dominated by "progressive" thought. It has become increasingly difficult for contrary views to cut through the fog of progressivism. The main assault of the progressives is now openly, without any intent of deception, on individual freedom. We see, of course, the continuing assault on the second amendment, but it goes beyond that. The first amendment has come under increasing and withering fire as institutions, public and private, adopt "speech codes" and declare certain expressed thoughts and implied behaviors off-bounds. One can get fired from a university, for example, by defending traditional marriage. We have moved beyond, of course, the original demand that we accept gay marriage, to the demand that we endorse it and denigrate traditional marriage.
Behavior once deemed as a sign of mental disturbance, e.g., gender confusion, is now foisted upon as normal and worth celebrating; in the name of this "normal," our daughters must now share bathrooms with men and those "confused about their gender"--I am certain this will go well. The press, furthermore, must not report the race or ethnicity of suspected criminals lest we allow our inner racist to emerge; after every attack from Muslim killers, we are warned not to engage in a backlash against Islam; all sorts of shows and statements can be made ridiculing Christianity and Judaism, but let not a single acrid word on Islam slip from your lips if you want to keep your job or not put yourself at physical risk; leftist thugs openly try to disrupt political meetings of those with whom they do not agree; demanding that our immigration laws be respected, gets one labelled a racist; requiring voters to identify themselves comprises racist voter "suppression"; agencies of the state openly suppress political dissent; men are considered the enemy; women, once proudly roaring out their equality, now demand special protections from men; relations between black and white have become the most tense and nauseating in my lifetime. The list goes on and on. Readers can add to this list until it becomes much too long and depressing even to contemplate.
Read it all.
And then there is this from the pen of Stephen Moore:
We have a $19 trillion national debt that has doubled in the last decade. We have wages flat or falling for most Americans. We have a political class that is actively trying to destroy whole industries — coal production, oil and gas, community banks and so many others.
We have a president (along with the intellectual class) pushing a radical climate change agenda that will cost the middle class millions of jobs, but won't change the global temperature one-one hundredth of a degree. Trade deals seem to be drafted to benefit foreign workers and businesses over our own. America pays far more than its share for programs like the United Nations and NATO. Our schools put teachers, not kids, first, and they don't educate.
We have courts overturning the will of the people in state after state on issues like gay marriage and if you are — God forbid — for traditional marriage and refuse to bake the cake, you are chastised as a bigot. We have speech police. We have illegal immigrants who work here and live here and then wave the Mexican flag at rallies, as if to be intentionally offensive. (And I'm in favor of immigration.) Then they wonder why Americans want a wall. We have the TSA searching the underwear of infants, but let Muslims slip right through because we wouldn't want to be accused of racial profiling. We have a Justice Department that wants to put people in jail for questioning the climate change "consensus."
This is the same crowd that seems to prefer the economic systems in Sweden and Greece and Cuba over America's. They preach human rights, but they don't seem to understand that economic freedom is a core human right.
