Dennett gratuitously insults the Middle Ages with his remark. "We’re entering a period of epistemological murk and uncertainty that we’ve not experienced since the middle ages." I did not read any further than that.

You're quite right, Joe. Dennett knows nothing about the Middle Ages. He's a pygmy compared to the giants of that era.
He is a very personable man, though. I was interviewed for a job at Tufts way back in '78.
